Why is Facebook the most important network?
Understanding the new era of business, we can say that today, social networks are the best publicity that can exist. Before, in times that today may seem remote; the usual was to use media such as radio, newspapers, or even television.
Currently, betting on those types of spaces to promote your brand, your product or your services, is to remain attached to a system that, although it has not completely died, has evolved towards new horizons, and all this thanks to the internet.

Who does not remember the classic wedges or radio advertisements? Perhaps you, who are reading this post, will say that radio still exists, that there is still advertising in them, that brands, products and services can still be promoted through radio. In that case, we have no alternative but to ask you the following question: Do you think there are more people listening to the radio than on the internet? Do you think your brand will reach more people through the radio than the internet? We will leave you these questions while we continue telling you a little about how the different media have evolved up to what we have today, a gigantic paradise in social networks, where we can do all kinds of advertising and at very low cost.
Now, just as radio has had to evolve to keep alive these times, the same thing happens with other media. Even in some cases we do not dare to say that they have died or evolved completely, but simply that they have to ally themselves with the internet.
A very interesting example is television. In many cases, television shows what they do to stay alive and generate profits, is that they join with the internet. The sports broadcasts that are perhaps one of the entertainment shows that have paid the most economic benefits to television, have been able to take advantage of social networks.
Today all respectable journalists have at least one network on Twitter where they comment and debate with the fans and then greet them in the live broadcast of the game in question. When this happens, all those people who have been captured by social networks, go to the TV at the appointed time, to continue interacting. But if we analyze it, everything is thanks to the internet, especially to social networks.
When social networks emerged, they were a real boom, but only the most expert, the truly visionary, realized that what attracted the masses was not necessarily a specific issue, but the simple fact of being communicated, sharing all kinds of information in a virtual way, according to the different tastes and interests of each one.
The concept of social networks is something that has existed for a long time, and was attributed to all those groups that share certain information, among other things. With the passing of time, this concept was changing to what it is today, or what we currently know as social networks, those internet spaces where people can communicate, expressing their ideas and opinions, living their lives and sharing the same time they see how others live.
When the internet made use of this concept, everything began to differentiate in some way, and it was there when it was established what would be three different types of social networks: Social sharing, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, among others; those of entertainment, among which YouTube or TikTok stands out, and the professional where LinkedIn has always stood out, although certain virtual work platforms, such as the freelancers' pages, also start to be taken into account.
From the new millennium, the era of information technology took hold of everything social, and it was right there when the true rise of social networks began to become what they are today. It all started with MySpace, a social network that emerged in the early 2000s, when it was assumed that the main intention was to interconnect all those people who in one way or another had the need to share music.
MySpace was aimed both at musicians and such, who needed to publicize their artistic creations, as well as fans or music lovers who also wanted to share what they were most passionate about.
Facebook, meanwhile, began in 2004, launched by Mark Zuckerberg, although we all know the dark background story in which it is said that he really stole the idea from other people. Without the courage to enter into controversy, it is important to remember that the idea that Mr. Mark allegedly stole, only sought to connect in some way to the members of a university in the United States, and that leads us to ask ourselves: The brothers who accuse Mark of thief, of having stolen the idea, perhaps they would have developed the way he did it until he turned Facebook into what it is today?
So, since the social networks emerged to date, much has happened and too many changes have occurred. New social networks have emerged, others have died or been stuck in the roads, while some seem to have definitely come to stay, as with Facebook.
It is difficult today to find a person who does not use social networks. In fact, it is very difficult that we try to locate a person in social networks and we do not find it. Even when the name is very common and there are many people who are called equal, there are always ways to locate the people we need to find, unless you try too hard to hide your identity or profile.
An interesting example of how we place most of our lives on social networks, is the Netflix series "You", where a stalker manages to know everything about the chic that is stalking, thanks to that he manages to get his cell phone and discover everything about she, from her tastes and interests, to her darkest secrets.
At this point, we can not ask a question: Why is Facebook the best social network to publicize our business and promote our brand, and not another social network, such as Instagram, for example?
Well, what happens is that if we take a look at the emergence of each social network, and then the subsequent success or failure that each has had, it seems that none has managed to last as long and as successfully as until now he has done Facebook.
None of this has been fortuitous; it is not about Facebook being kept intact since it was born. Of course, Facebook has had ups and downs, like any company, and that will always be the case. The detail is that Facebook has evolved, has been able to take advantage of the competition imitating and improving what they have to offer, at the same time it seems to be the social network for all ages, which at the same time allows you to segment the public in the best way.
It is difficult, or uncommon, to see a woman over 70 using a social network, but if she does, we guarantee that Facebook must be the most important for her, if not the only one that interests her. The same applies to all genders in all ages.
While social networks like Tinder are more youthful, and Twitter seems to be more for intellectual and social debates, Facebook seems to be the only network that can adapt to all tastes, at the same time it is the one that offers the most tools to segment the public.
Segmentation is a topic that we will be talking about in other posts because it is something key within Facebook and will allow you to succeed in promoting your brand through Facebook, however, we can get ahead that it is about differentiating, separating or grouping, to the people you follow or follow you on Facebook, that is, those who are your friends (and even those who do not) according to specific characteristics such as the city where they live, the city where they were born, tastes and interests, among many other details that can define someone's personality.
Then, when you can choose the age, gender, tastes and interests of the people you want to add to your social network, you have in your hands a great power of segmentation that will allow you to have at your reach all those people who with certain characteristics in common, they go from being Facebook friends to becoming potential customers.
